My name is Austin Smith and I am from and currently reside in Cumming, Georgia. In May, I received a Bachelors of Fine Arts and a Masters of Interior Design from Brenau University's CIDA accredited interior design program. I am currently working as an Intern at Parker Kennedy Living a residential design firm in Atlanta, Georgia. My experience at this firm has taught me to enjoy residential design and what it has to offer, but after completing my graduate project I have found that I have a deep passion for hospitality and healthcare design.
My graduate capstone project is Embrace, A Women's Infusion Center, which, as I have mentioned already, sparked my interest in hospitality and healthcare design. This project has taught me how important interior design draws on aspects of environmental psychology, architecture, and product design. Furthermore, I have learned that interior design is about passion, the passion to create beautiful yet functional spaces. As an Interior Designer, I have an ethical responsibility to my client, the public and myself. Creating a space in which my client desires and approves of is my duty, but in doing so, I must be enthusiastic and passionate about my work and most importantly, I must always remember the health safety and welfare of the public. As I have heard before and now say, great design starts with an idea and it is up to us, as designers, to make that idea a reality.
